I did this storyline partially because I realised I hadn’t ever really written any friendships between women (who weren’t related) and how that was a bit of an omission and something I needed to try. Redressing the balance a little.

Anyway, plan o’clock over here.

Hey, an anthology I’m part of is being Kickstarted right now! It’s another fairy tales book, this time African instead of Europeon tales, and it’s got some amazing names attached, go have a look!

Support the comic, buy some neat swag!

Oh well, we can’t have things go THAT well for Alexa.

  • Haha, I was wondering if she’d ask Rosie to sign it, but then what will she tell her family?? They’ll ask when she ever met Rosie, and she’d have to say ‘1830s..?’

    • Volk0v

Rosie could have signed it, actually. She would just have to be around ninety years old in Alexa time. Assuming she’s about thirty. Otherwise I don’t know go away aaaaa

      • True, but even if she can meet Rosie in her time, is Rosie local to those parts? We still don’t know how she ended up in the hotel, I think?

        • Volk0v

That much is true. But… If she was there at some point, Alexa might be able to excuse it as Rosie going to places and revisiting memories.

  • Oh cool! You’re in the cautionary tales anthology too? :D Totally backing it!

  • Sortelli

Honestly one of my favorite things is that Rosie is the sweet and unreasonably optimistic 50’s housewife in a completely non-ironic way. She’s not clueless or judgmental or some kind of pent up maniac like a lot of lesser writers would have handled her. I hope we get to see what she wrote in that book. It was great to get to see her realize her book had that much of an impact.

  • That wasn’t actually a yes from Rosie was it?

    alexa’s been fangirling a bit today :D

Now you mention it, this sequence could be used as a teaching aid for writers who keep flunking that pesky Bechdel test.

    Rosie’s going to be breakfast!!!

  • Ah, no Alexa, you’re doing it wrong. Stop trying to “think” of a plan. A plan isn’t something you think of. A plan is something you claim to have but never tell to anyone before jumping in headfirst, making shit up on the fly and then claiming it went off without a hitch.

      #Hollywood adventures?

While I do feel bad to comment on something like that instead of how amazing this comic is (which it is), curiosity is bugging me… Is Alexa leaving her own room here? I thought they went into her room to get her book? o.O

    • Yep, she’s leaving her room! She has places to be!

      • Gillsing

And then she realised that she had brought the book along instead of putting it back where she kept it in her room? Completely understandable considering that her mind was probably busy planning things.

Great scene with that book though. The immensity!

  • Pretty sure friendships between related people are as valid as between non-related people. But I guess there is a different dynamic there without certain past shared experiences.

When it suddenly occurs to you that it took a black person to pull this off.
