Looks like he was actually freed because the spotlight was smashed.

    • Rolan7

Based on the sound effect, I think the spotlight is shattering because he was freed…

      • John

I agree with Rolan7. It appears to me that Voss freed himself in the last panel of the Tuesday’s comic and the backlash shattered the spotlight in the first panel of today’s comic.

  • Darkoneko Hellsing

Aaah, the classical temptation. Let’s see.

  • Grey_Moment

My guess for Voss’ response? “Yeah, we tried that once. Good times, good times… except not really. Ever. Yeah, no.”

  • Phil

Oh good, Voss redemption. Was looking forward to this, always felt kinda sorry for the guy.

  • “I *SAID*, I’m not doing anything for you any more.”

  • Ghostdanser

But Envy never said…”No strings attached.” My money’s on Voss telling Envy what they can do with that deal.

  • If Herr Voss accepts the deal I have shares in a perpetual motion machine to sell him.

As we all know, lying, deception and fabrication are not deadly sins, so all of them are able to do it! (Pride would probably be far too focused on itself to even think about it, though.) Anyway, even if Envy is telling the truth now, it’ll probably double-cross Voss later.

  • John

Voss, I know that you’re seriously tempted by this offer, but remember that the lying fox does NOT have your best interests at heart (it never has, and it never will) and tell it no. This is the moment when you can either earn your redemption or throw it away.

    • Saying “No” because he thinks its lying is no virtue. I think Voss knows Envy is telling the truth.

Or Voss may remember that Wolfe always tried to help “his friend”, that he let Voss run away from Captain Barber, that he trusted Voss and talked Ben into taking him with them. Or, for the worst case, that Wolfe has a few friends just here who would be very displeased with Voss killing Wolfe.

    • Pyre

With Voss, I made the comparison to him being a recovering addict a few strips ago. ALong those same lines, this is the moment where the bottle is right in front of him.

I admit that I’m rooting for Voss to resist temptation not just for Wolfe’s sake but for Voss’ sake as well.

  • Ocean Burning.

Envy, you are a terrible stage manager…
Verity, where are you? We need you up here with that saw *now*!

  • Brother Nightmare

    Didn’t read the Q & A did you envy? Yeah, he’s done.

  • non_canon

Every body else has already said everything meaningful I could say (and beaten me to the no strings on me joke), so I’m going to be shallow and express my appreciation for Wolfe’s open shirt in the last panel.

    • i had the chance to open the shirt and i took it, no regrets

Twist ending: Luxuria stops thinking small, ignores the Barbers and goes for the cartoonist :)

    • Ocean Burning.

I had noticed the same thing, but after a while I started to feel a little concerned. Shouldn’t we be careful? After all, Mr. Luxuria hasn’t been dealt with yet.

    • Alétheia

That’s pretty much exactly what I came to say, hah! XD

Panel 2 : You are ruining my fanfic, Voss!

  • auronblidook

Remember that Q&A where Voss said he didn’t want any of them?

  • Rachel McGonagill

    Steady now, Voss. Steady…

  • Stay on target Voss… stay on target!
    Do not get distracted!

    • Ocean Burning.

Don’t get distracted from what, Envy? Envy’s not offering any surprises, he’s temping him like, “Come back to me like you never left”.

  • Tyfariel

Sometimes the pupils in the eyes are so small that I like to believe the character isn’t looking in any one direction, but that they in fact have no pupil(s) at all. It makes things hilarious, or demented.

  • That doesn’t play for me.

  • “#24: I will maintain a realistic assessment of my strengths and weaknesses. Even though this takes some of the fun out of the job, at least I will never utter the line ‘No, this cannot be! I AM INVINCIBLE!!!’ (After that, death is usually instantaneous.)”

Time for Voss to dig deep and find his virtue of Kindness. The old definition of kindness that’s equal parts satisfaction, loyalty, compassion, and integrity.
