“There,” I said to myself, as I finished Darken, “Now I’ll never have to draw another of those pesky swordfights!”

By the way, this story’s coming to an end near the end of the month, and I could do with some help from some of my art bros! I’d like to run guest strips for a week or two while I buffer up the next story, so if anyone could send me something I’d appreciate it! Email at kojiro_muyo@hotmail.com :)

Transcripts

Macavity: (standing and handing off the idol to Thug 2) So, is this here king going to fight for himself?
Sid: Er, fight?!

(Macavity clicks his fingers, and Thug 1 provides swords for both Sid and Macavity.)

Macavity: There’s more to being the boss around here than just stealing and a bit of luck, Malik!
Sid: But I-!
Macavity: We’ll duel for it, just you and me!

Sid: (taking hold of his sword awkwardly) I was expecting more of a.. bluster-off.
Macavity: D’you know the rules of fencing?
Sid: Um, no..

(Macavity draws his sword in a fast, lateral swipe at Sid, who stumbles backwards to avoid it with an expression of horror.)

Macavity: Then you won’t care that I break ’em!

short stories! i did not get that until now. it is actually a great idea. everything online is epic – with half or more of all fantasy comic creators discontinuing their work before completing it – so OBNOXIOUS! or wonderfully short one-offs, like beartato, which never fails to amuse or make me smile, but which doesn’t draw me in either. except for that one explain the economy one. that one just stays with me. http://nedroid.com/2011/08/economoline/

but short story adventure/fantasy comics, that will be done well and completed quickly? lovely idea!

Well, I wanted to do sort of arcs, like how Discworld runs. Each story could stand alone, potentially :) I can’t recall another webcomic that does that sort of thing apart from perhaps Jack, but that’s.. well, a very different feel to this comic!

It’s not entirely unheard of.  Spare Keys for Strange Doors follows that format.  So does False Positive, though that one lacks any recurring characters.  And there was a Lovecraftian horror webcomic a while back that was a series of loosely related shorts, but I don’t recall the name of it (it’s a completed project).

So, Widdershin will be a series of shorter stories connected mostly by characters? Because I can’t see how you would abandon such charming people like Sid and Harry… :) I’m really looking forward to every single comic strip here. You’ve done a great job!
