  • Yay Vee!

  • Marvelous TK

she is definitely not going to be a liability with any of the future sins, definitely. sloth? pish. gluttony? child’s play. … those are the only two left, right? good, we’re fine, everything’s going to be fine.

    • Nonesuch

Pride. Pride is going to be a bit of an issue.

      • Ganurath

The joke was in pretending away Pride, Greed, and Lust.

  • Phil

    Important question:

Do they get to keep the flashy stage outfits after they desummon Envy? I shall be most disappointed if not!

    • Nonesuch

That depends on how fast they can run. ;)

  • Darkoneko Hellsing

    Classy, even ridden with rage.

  • Me-me

Vee is not going to do well against Pride.

  • Rulebook Lawyer

That is not how it is suppose to go….
It is suppose to go, “NOOOOOOOoooooooooo!”
(My text should be in green… or maybe not, to think about it…)

    • CountSessine

Whereas, it is only going, “No..!” It’s a setback, not the end. I think Envy may not be weakened quite enough; it could yet rally, and have another trick.

That might be Ben in the audience saying, “WHAT DID I DO?”

  • Pangaea

If Envy envies Vee, Envy loses envy of the crowd? (Hee)

  • Greenwood Goat

Cue duet between Vee and Envy: “Anything You Can Do, I Can Do Better!” >:=)>

    • AJ

      Oh yes!

      • Dud

That is the only way to beat it without magic: at it’s own game. The stageweight and the fall (suprised gravity has any effect) cannot damage a mutable spirit but the ‘I wish I’d thought of that first’ and ‘I wish I had that style’ envy get’s it right in the unmentionables (if it has them).

Envy is still, fundamentally, undamaged. Vee might have bought a little time for Ben and or Sidney to start drawing is all.

        Cheerio,

        • Heylir

Verity’s “performance” freed the audience from Envy’s influence, it is important. (Their lines stopped to be green already after Voss’ breaking the strings, but now there is “What did I do?” and such.) It must weaken Envy, I hope, enough for him to be desummoned.

  • John

Verity for the win. Now while Mal and Harry yank Envy’s furry butt in between to desummon it Verity and company can go looking for Gluttony. From the map it looked like it’s still hanging around the Hotel Gula…

    • Nonesuch

Yeah, it wouldn’t stir from its digs so long as there was food there to devour…. And a hotel needs must always keep its larder stocked.

  • John

Oh, and Benji try to do better with the next one, hmm?

    • Nonesuch

This encounter isn’t quite over yet….

  • Nonesuch

I wasn’t very fond of Verity during her first appearance, but I really have enjoyed her work in fighting Envy. :D
A lady who can wind up one of the Seven Deadlies like that is pretty okay in my book.

  • Del

Harriet did well, bringing Verity to the team!

Loving this story more, every week. Mal & Harry are coming up soon.

I hope we get to see Nicola and Nora again soon.

Keep in mind the blue muffler, the two-minute respite, the other witches, and perhaps the mystery door. Maybe even Alexa?!?! Lei and the Thief King are loose. So much to look forward to!

    • Ocean Burning.

I have just discovered that all my life I had the wrong idea about what a muffler is…

  • MoeLane

Ah, the First Rule of Adventuring: “You can’t dodge falling damage.”

    • Aryn

No, but if the haling potion only requires skin contact to heal then you can pour it into a container that will burst if you fall on it and make sure you land on it, or be drinking the healing potion as you land…but then that only works in role playing.

    • hariman

Not unless you block the ground’s attack! ;D

      • MoeLane

        It’s super-effective.

  • Anthony Placek

envy looks so cute when he’s frustrated, out of his element, and no longer in control. I WANT TO SEE IT MORE. HEHEHEHEHEHE.

  • spas

what did she throw at envy?

    • John

A sandbag, which is a fairly common item in the rigging for a stage.

      • spas

thanks. hard to believe envy is taken down by a sandbag, but it is good to know what that is.

  • Meep meep!

  • *wondering what Harry and Mal have been doing all this time*

    • Rachel McGonagill

Braiding each others’ hair and gossiping about their partners, natch.

    • Ocean Burning.

      YES, EXACTLY

  • Euodiachloris

What every good panto needs: physical comedy and the mischief maker getting a decent pratfall. xD

Also, Envy getting sandbagged = delicious irony. :)

  • Rachel McGonagill

Verity is obviously rather pleased with herself. Proud, even. That won’t bite this team in the ass later on, nnnoooooope.

  • Ocean Burning.

Second panel: low-key smug Verity is my favorite Verity ever. That face! That little smirk!
Oh, and those boots are so stylish, too. She should probably get some like that after all this is over.
