Familiar name..

Hey guys, just to let you know I’ve put together a Patreon page where you can go and help support Widdershins by way of monthly donations!

The comic is still free, of course, and will always be, but if you go there and subscribe to donate even a little every month, it’d really help me out, and if we scrape together enough as a group I can clean up the website by removing a bunch of the ads.

Also, subscribers will get exclusive looks at sketches for the next story, and beyond that, perhaps, too! Not to mention my eternal thanks for your help! If you’ve enjoyed this last story and are looking forward to the next, I hope you’ll consider donating!

Support the comic, buy some neat swag!

HEY KIDS! so obviously connected to Harriet Barber and so on, but why is it significant in the context of the story? Figure one of you has it all figured out!

    • Nuuni Nuunani

Given the stuff Harriet has been up to, and the hints that this sorta thing runs in her family, I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if a Barber had whaled on Gluttony at one point and he was feeling especially bitter about it.

  • BillSoo

A Barber has been involved with each of the other releases, but this is the first time a deadly has gone after one specifically.

    Off topic but…..
So far we’ve seen 4 deadlies: Greed, Pride, Sloth and Gluttony.
In another web comic I read (Ava’s Demon) there are a number of demons based on the seven deadly sins. So far we’ve seen 3 in that series. Wrath, Envy and Lust. So between the two comics, all 7 have been anthropomorphized.

    • Sanjay Merchant

I don’t know that Sloth, Gluttony, or Pride as seen here really meet the “anthro-” part.

      • Me-me

        Personifications, then.

      • Not Me

        no, the “anthro-” part applies.

        • Sanjay Merchant

Well, according to Merriam-Webster online, the definition is “to attribute human form or personality to”. So I guess the word does, indeed, apply.

    • Darkoneko Hellsing

Eeh, I hadn’t thought of Ava’s demons that way.

That’s a good point actually. hmmmmmm.

    • Disconnected

And if you remember back to Sloth’s storyline if all 7 deadlies are released near Widdershins bad juju happens (though nothing specified as to what that bad juju is). I forget exactly which comic it is but it’s shortly after the factory starts burning down and it’s the wizard of the trio that mentions it in passing.

How many plot significant women can one family have?

    • the Amazing Mister Moriarty

      All of them.

      • Nonesuch

        And there’s a brother, too.

        • Don’t be absurd. The brother can’t be a woman. Especially not in Victorian times.

  • Sonja

Hi, I’m new to the comic and just read through the whole archive in only a few days. I really like your story, your characters and your style – you’re doing great work! :-)
Perhaps it sounds funny, but I especially like the way you draw Harry’s pipe smoke… ^^
Curious to see which one of the deadlies will be set loose in the next chapter! ;-)

  • Dee

Was it ever officially established that Nora is Harry & Florrie’s sister? My memory’s slipping and I can’t quite recall. If you can give a date/link, that would be fantastic!

    • Del

Nora mentions that she has several sisters, and one of them are more suited to this sort of adventure than she is.

It is time to go back to the beginning and look at all of the foreshadowings. Kate planted a number of Easter eggs in the story.

      • Alex Hollins

to be specific, I believe there are 7 sisters.

        • Seven Sins for Seven Sisters…. wasn’t that a play or something?

      • Dee

Well, I was planning an archive crawl soon…

  • Nonesuch

Oh, bollocks. o_o; The Seven Deadly Sins are in communication with each other and plotting together to bring them all over into the mortal realm so they can party, aren’t they…?

  • I hope that apron has been washed and ironed, Fenton.

And so we see the plot threads start to converge with the inevitability of two express trains travelling in opposite directions on the same track. This is going to be fun (for us).

There are some similar hints in the notes at the back of the book version of Vanishing Act. What do you mean you haven’t got a copy? Go to Ms Ashwin’s online store at once!

    • Disconnected

When money permits. Though my theory is that the fact they seem to be stalking different Barber sisters is more of a scoping of sacrifices/hosts, probably all needing to be in the same family. Though Greed and Pride both met Harry and only Harry despite Florrie being in the same story. As both of them, can anyone remember her meeting one of the seven?

      • The ebook has all the extra notes and is only $3.50. I ought to be getting commission…

  • Becca

Is it just me, or does it look like something has been slipped into the pocket of the apron in panel 2? Just a hint of something peeking out?
