  • Sharkie

Well, that explains a lot, like why she is so willingly doing something so pointless.

  • Darkoneko Hellsing

    oHooo. Well, that explains things

  • Nonesuch

OF COURSE! The real Mrs Sykes would want to go home eventually, just like all the other humans. It’s been Gluttony all along; the only being in the building with a comprehensible motivation for keeping things the way they are.

      • Sir Aaron

        The cake is a lie!

        • JWLM

This cake is a portal to another place. It *tells* lies.

          • Sanjay Merchant

The portal leads to the part where he kills you.

        • The Wing

The cake is really tired of being accused of lying.

  • wanderingdreamer

    Well that just got complicated.

    • Nonesuch

Not necessarily. They were going to fight Gluttony anyway, and this way there’s no moral ambiguity about potentially having to beat up a little old lady. ^^

  • Mindsword2

And it explains all the food puns.

  • Sanjay Merchant

Well, darn there goes at least half the laundry list of my predictions.

  • Sanjay Merchant

Also, Nora glancing about nervously is saved the day! Yay fidgety nervousness!

  • Hmmm. So i was right (that it was Gluttony itself tempting them) even if i was wrong about Mrs Sykes having been Gluttony all along.

The question now is: When did Gluttony replace Sykes?

    • JWLM

How do we know that it’s Gluttony? Maybe it’s the hotel owner…

    • Nonesuch

Right after she sneaked a bite of the magically hypnotic food on that first night, I’d guess.

  • Dee

And the plot thickens! (just like a good roux!)

  • =Tamar

    Rosie, you’re needed!

  • So if the henchpersons have been replaced, what exactly are Sam and Ethan fighting?

    • Tikatu

I think Sam is fighting something as supernatural as Gluttony.
      Ethan’s fighting the red cabbage.

      • Stretch Longfellow

And it’s putting up quite the fight, too!

      • My money is on Sam and the red cabbage.

    • Some sort of ogre, obviously.

      • ..or possibly a PE teacher. Of course ogres often have very successful careers as PE teachers, so he may well be both.

  • McFrugal

That explains why I thought she was Gluttony. I was trying to figure out how that could be possible when Mrs Sykes was a real person before this started.

I guess Gluttony didn’t bother taking a form of its own.

    • Nonesuch

Why would it? This way, it can benefit from the staff’s default tendency to obey Mrs. Sykes’ orders.

  • Del

Well…. if you gals aren’t going to eat any of that strawberry shortcake, then can I have some?

  • Del

I don’t think we should be making fun of Nora. After all, she is the Barber Sister in this tale. And she’s the one who is standing closest to that cloud of spooky smoke….

    • Nonesuch

      … That’s the residue from the flower bomb, I think. ^^;

  • CyberSkull

Oh, it doesn’t need henchmen anymore!

  • I was really looking forward to that cheerful old lady magical showdown

  • EveryZig

We HAD seen Gluttony in the same room as Skyes previously, but that was with Gluttony appearing right behind her, so it is possible that Sykes was a horrible human-shaped puppet appendage on the front of the main blob…

  • I have another theory… ***SPOILER! IF I am right…*** …………………………………… didn’t sloth escape a while ago? When one eats too much you get sleepy, right? And Mrs. Sykes did mention something about “They’re not supposed to sleep yet.”

  • SoItBegins

    Aaaaaaaand bam.

  • Nick Godby

    da da DAAAAA!
