Our Mister O’Malley seems quite cognisant of Michelle Shocked’s dictum: “The Secret to a Long Life (is knowing when it’s time to go)”

Ben. BEN. This is your conscience speaking.

It’s quite stuffy down here. Your self-esteem and spine agree.

DON’T YOU GO BACK TO CLEANING UP MESSES! LISTEN TO ME, BEN.

You’re going to have to actually do something about this. As in, act. Instead of react. I know the concept is alien to you, but it has to be now. The bitch has got to go, Ben.

    • Why -is- Ben so loyal to her I wonder? Did she pick him up with his OCD and his ‘duff’ degree and give him a livlihood when he’d fallen on hard times maybe? Otherwise I’m surprised he’s as supportive as he is of someone who seems to think people with his ability should all be locked up or shipped out. ..Or apparently killed now too.

I wonder how much she pays the wizard that set loose these buggerups.

    • Beldam

She almost certainly doesn’t–it seems when the wizards conjure a bugger up, they lose consciousness and have no recollection of doing so. Somehow she’s controlling them from afar, but the how is the question.

      • PraetorDragoon

Well, I think the first few buggerups were created by stupid wizards, but the last fews were created by a paid wizard that slipped into the crowd while setting up somebody else. Of course it can’t be traced back to her. I mean, how likely is it to create such a buggerup accidently every night? I sense foul play.

That “Kill all the wizards” speech would have made a lot more sense if Ben, Mal, and Wolfe hadn’t done such a good job getting rid of the buggerup before anything too terrible happened–no doubt much to their boss’ disappointment. Although I suppose the theater’s having to be evacuated in mid-performance due to a sudden magical miasma seems bad enough to the crowd of interested bystanders and disgruntled playgoers.

Can’t Mal read this cow’s aura? She must be inwardly cackling to herself during all this!

    • SulZala

Well, he said something about her perfume last page, and there’s been the theory that the perfume is messing with his powers in a not-nice way.
      Maybe he can’t.

  • Eep! Watch out, Ben, you might be next! (After all, if even the very wizard in charge of handling dangerous malforms nodded off and somehow unleashed a terror on the city, how can you trust any wizard?)

Grrrrg. Emotional, deadly conflict raised out of pure ignorance is the worst kind, or at least, it’s the kind that bothers me the most. People say things that sound smart but are really stupid, and everyone believes them because they don’t stop to actually THINK for one *BLEEP*ing second.

Obviously they are in need of magic for everyone. Teach everyone magic and any teen could have shut this thing down.
