About 200 pages long probably

Oh, I’m putting together the next Kickstarter, by the way! It should be live by the end of this month. In the meantime, here’s a couple of other webcomic kickstarters that could really use your help reaching their goals: Long-running urban fantasy Sorcery 101 is wrapping up, in book form! And, by the same artist who brought you Derelict, The Sword Interval is going for a run of its first volume. Monster hunters, modern wizards, clocking a dragon with a baseball bat, it’s got it all.

  • Darkoneko Hellsing

Last panel : stop having a spouse argument and use your buckets !

    • Tsapki

Oh no! Now they’re hitting each other with the buckets!

    • Ganurath

They probably can’t, due to the ambient wrath. All seven being free probably means influence being exerted already.

      • Darkoneko Hellsing

        Ooh hadn’t think of that.

    • Dud

Much more likely: “If they can’t be bothered to help save their own place then why should we? Lets concentrate on saving the neighboring houses instead.”

  • LSKollt

Mal’s body language in panel 2 is priceless ^^

    • I don’t know, I could easily see Vincent Price displaying that sort of body language.

      • LSKollt

That just makes it even *better*! (I’m a huge Price fan.)

  • Sapphire363

    Naaawwwwwwww. Hunny, it’s okay.

I want to hug poor Mal.

  • Sapphire363

I love how Mal is so confused, he thinks that it’s obvious where the spirit came from, but he didn’t know that it was a witchy thing, it’s just like.
“I know where it was summoned, don’t you?”

    Poor dear

  • Sapphire363

And poor Wolfe. My god I love this.

It is scenes like this that make Widdershins one of my favourite works of literature.

    • Poor Wolfe? POOR WOLFE? Poor Mal, you mean! :(

      • Sapphire363

I also mentioned poor Mal, but in a separate comment.
        I understand your sentiment however.

  • Scint

Well, it’s not quite. “Here is a nice pill that makes it go away, good day what ho cup of tea.”

and they may be stuck there forever now. ;-)

      • JWLM

But at least they aren’t going to stick Mal full of needles

        • Tsapki

Wrath might try that next time though…

      • Sanjay Merchant

With a fixed bode and everything.

        • rainycity1

Well, considering their abode was just burned out…

  • BaronHaynes

This is really exciting! I like the way this comic has been about gradually setting up storylines for the past 5 years and now having them converge in one place. Getting to see these characters finally interact feels as big as the plot revelations, to be honest.

  • BaronHaynes

Something interesting…Wrath knows that Mal is a witch, but it clearly tries to kill him along with Ben and Wolfe. But Envy said he was needed alive during Chapter 5. Maybe they don’t need him anymore now that all 7 are out?

    • Asterai

Or maybe Wrath is just a hothead. (ahahaha)

  • AJ

    Oh. Oh Harry!
She so much more reserved, while Nicola freaks out all over the place. You wouldn’t even think of her… feeling so strongly.
But I can feel that “please” like a jab to the gut.

  • MoeLane

Chekov’s Violin. Calling it now that the violin is going to be important later, unless it was called already.

    • Asterai

Mal can see Wolfe’s peace and happiness especially well when he plays, and we know that Virtues can be summoned/invoked too. Maybe Mal will need that reference for a working?

    • rainycity1

I dunno… seems really in character for Mal, given his regard for Wolfe & his music.

  • John

Yeah! A long chapter for the conclusion of the first Widdershins story arc. This is going to be great! (Mal will hate it.)

  • Del

It’s a really bad day when your home is burning down, and you have to run off to do something more dangerous.

(Let’s not even mention the two years it will take to get this day sorted out. I hope there’s time for a pipe.)

  • I love this comic so much <33333

  • Masterful summation, Ben.

  • You do realise that is all Herr Wolfe’s fault? If he hadn’t made O’Malley get off the train at Widdershins, none of this would have happened.

    • rainycity1

I got the impression at the time, however, that fate was going to pull Mal into Widdershins one way or another.

      • JWLM

Comparing the two pages, I’m struck by how the comic’s art has evolved: the backgrounds are better and the characters are much more sharply drawn. (Look at Harry’s hair in this strip and compare it how it was drawn Way Back When.)

        • rainycity1

I’ve loved watching Kate’s style evolve.

  • rainycity1

    A very long day, indeed!

  • Ah, poor Mal.
Forced to save the world with people who call him names.
There should be some whisky ’round here if ya need a drink after.

  • Sanjay Merchant

Those people arguing in the background of the last panel: ordinary argument or the influence of Wrath?

    • rainycity1

      Very interesting observation

  • Kickstarter? See if you can get Professor Wright to do your animation…

  • Chris the Blue

The character tags make me so happy!

  • MarriStenberg

Not preferable but definitely possible is perfectly in character for my dear ben thackery.
