I hope Mal secretly followed him or Ben can cast some kind of locater spell or something.

Reminds me of a book I’ve read. Also, those lightmaking people (how is it called what they do?) seem a tiny bit suspicious to me…

      Lamplighters.

      • ChibiViolet

Hmm…Didn’t the spooky lady say there was a program to develop magical self-lighting streetlights? I wonder if that upsets the current lamplighters.

        • anonymous

So you think the lamplighters are sabotaging wizards to protect their jobs? Like anti-magic Luddites?

Wait, it just occured to me… Are they putting chloroform in the lamps, which causes the mages to fall asleep on the job?

    • SoItBegins

      Yes.

      Yes.

    • Yes, but it’s magical chloroform.

  • Excuse me, but does this chloroform laden cloth smell like MAGIC to you?

So is that a no to the question?

I thought that they had something to do with it last strip, seems I was right! I had figured they were putting something in the lamps that when burnt would cause nearby people to become drowsy. hehehe.

  • Oh, well then! I guess that explains why it’s always in the evening on busy streets! Poor Wolfe.. I wonder if he’d actually suspected them or was just going to ask them if they saw anyone suspicious about in their rounds or something. I do wonder though why only the mages have been so tired previously… or maybe we only heard that the mages were tired? Whatever the case, the stuff from their ‘oil’ can sure put Wolfe out.
..If Wolfe left a clue in his book for them to find it’s going to be interesting since even aside from Mal being illiterate he writes in German!

Sooo… If Wolfe is Tintin, Mal is… Milou/Snowy ? (He’s not going to like it….)

    • KomiIsDrawing

He’s more of the Captain Haddock type ;)

Mal as Haddock? Blistering barnacles! I’m not sure I agree.

        • Perhaps just the drinking and cursing parts.

  • AJ

I’m two years late on this, but I’m reading the author’s comments and saw last page was Mal’s Tintin impression and was thinking, “He’s just looking around… How is that like Tintin?” and then I saw today and thought, “Ohhhhh! Because Tintin always got knocked out or kidnapped too!”

  • Big Shadow

Wolfe stop kidding around. Wolfe. Wolfe. Woooooooolfe!!!!!! Game Over

  • This guy

I think that was a NO Wolfe.
