    Wolfe is too strong.

  • Ghostdanser

Wrath doesn’t look too happy with the music in that last panel. Ah well, everyone’s a critic. I bet he’d be happier with Death Metal…but it hadn’t been invented yet.

  • 703 Noemi

Lol Vee in the middle panel

    • Sanjay Merchant

“OK, when you said ‘violin’, I didn’t realize that he could actually, y’know, *VIOLIN*.”

      • Frankie D.

From where she’s standing, that’s not his “violin” she’s staring at…

        • John

Vee and Wolfe could make an interesting ship. And as an added bonus hanging out with Wolfe will give her lots of opportunities to torment Benji along with the occasional opportunity to snipe at Harry when Harry and Sid need to teem up with the malform busters.

Yup, this ship could be lots of fun, at least for us.

          • non_canon

Eh, I think if he was going to end up with one of the cousins it’d be Ben. And ever since somebody mentioned Verity/Nicola I’ve really come to like that ship, especially since it would involve the two of them kicking ass together and Verity getting to add to the wonderful chaos that is obviously standard at Barber family functions.

            • fyi these are all cute ships and i love them :3

          • It’ll be even more fun when he starts flirting with Mrs De Montfort while he’s supposed to be walking out with Ms Cunningham.

  • Hominid

Ballad of Peace is to strong, please nerf.

  • EveryZig

In which the bard carries the team.

    • TachyonCode

Everyone knows Bards are just stylized Wizards, but far less boastful and indignant.

      Right? It’s important to me to defend my archetype >_>;

      • Disloyal Subject

Well, while Bards are spontaneous casters, and Charisma-based, many do share Wizards’ fondness for book learning, though usually less for the PHENOMENAL COSMIC POWER than can be contained in the printed word than for verse and story. They are a nice middle ground between Sorcerers just being magic and Wizards studying hard to use hermetic ritual to warp the fabric of reality, though they give up those two’s spellcasting prowess…

        • Bards do get some magic/magical powers. Man we loved the buffs we got when we had a Skald and two NPC bards in the same group. ^_^

      • Sanjay Merchant

“The difference is I make this cantrip look good.

    • JWLM

Wolfe casts “Mass Calm” with a +40 modifier against DC 55. Nat 20!

GM: “Well. Your music soars — you’ve never heard it like this before. The people in the crowd below go silent, struck with awe at the pure, glorious beauty of the music. The rage that was driving the riot drains away like water into a sinkhole.

Wrath responds by roaring ever louder. It pivots and glares at the loudspeaker on the wall. It picks up a rock.

      Roll for initiative.”

      • r2d2go

to be a pedantic D&D player – casting is rarely vs a DC. A Perform check is more likely – that, or the enemies make a Will save vs Wolfe’s spell DC.

        • Fin

Or it might let them reroll their Will save vs Wrath’s influence

        • JWLM

Fair enough, but I wanted to make this evening fata…I mean, interesting. I imagine I just did that: the party’s understrength, down its ranger and its rogue, and the members aren’t used to working with one another.

        • Tsapki

Wouldn’t this basically be a Countersong to remove the magical spell Wrath has on the crowd?

          • Nonesuch

That’d only work if Wrath’s influence were a sonic effect, if I recall correctly.

            • Tsapki

Hmm, I was under the impression that Countersong could also undue general mind-affecting magic. I might have been thinking a different system.

      • Ilmari

Any DM fluffing around with a DC of 55, or a +40 modifier, needs a kick in the posterior and subsequent dismissal from their post. Seriously.

  • Odo

Music hath charms to soothe the savage beast. Wrath may not be pleased, but he won’t last long.

  • Asterai

Looks similar to the Sloth circle on the previous page.

  • Sanjay Merchant

Sid is like the human answer to the Purple Hippo of Happiness: “Wow, you’re so good at this!”

    • Haven

      They should be friends

  • ThisCat

Yess. No one can fight the power of Wolfe.

    • Darkoneko Hellsing

      …you didn’t.

  • Sarah Hardister

It’s a REALLY good thing Mal saved that violin from Wrath’s fire…

Also am I the only one who’s thinking of “The Cricket in Times Square” right now?

  • Killersquirrel66

So, I’m wondering something. Wolfe is a great counter to Wrath, which helped them deal with this issue. Are we going to see something similar for the other Deadlies? Sid is so energetic that I can see him overcoming Sloth, for example.

    • Darkoneko Hellsing

I could see Sid facing the one he already faced once, back in the seawter cave.

    • non_canon

I really want to see Sid counter Greed and Ben counter Sloth, since they were heavily involved in their intro and it’d make a nice symmetry.

      • Margot

Ooh, yes, Ben against Sloth sounds good! Though I’d like to see Sid take on Envy or Pride.

        • Sanjay Merchant

I always figured Nicola Barber would provide the Diligence to answer Sloth, but getting her back on stage will be tricky.

  • DataProwler Netizen

    Violins against violence?

    • TheGorram Batguy

I suppose they’ll be defeating Luxuria with the power of Sax?

  • Brother Nightmare

Looks like somebody’s not a big fan of soft music.

  • Sarah Hardister

This is the solo I imagine he’s playing through the speakers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nxFvGHUv4fs

  • dreadbeasts

I just realized. We’ve got six foils to the six underlings of Luxuria. Perhaps six embodiments of the virtues? Wolfe sure is doing a good job embodying patience here, at any rate. Maybe we’ll see Ben for Diligence and Sid for Humility or Kindness?

  • Maxim Foster

Hi, boys & girls! I wanna present you a new blog of funny and hilarious webcomics: http://welcometonightmareville.blogspot.it/

    Enjoy!

    • Hiya guy, looking at your post history you seem to be posting this on a whole lot of comics’ comments- It’s kinda bad form to do that sort of thing, and it’s likely to get your messages marked as spam. Have you considered advertising your comic via Project Wonderful instead? It’d get you much better results.

      • Maxim Foster

Oh, sorry, I didn’t know how to promote my blog; thanx a lot for the suggestion!

        • No worries, good luck!

  • So what tune is he playing? I trust it is something suitably baroque. None of this modern Schubert rubbish.

  • I told you once, you son of a gun, I’m the best there’s ever been

  • DominoMask

    muzak for your soul

  • TheCatCameBack

the only adventuring team where the bard is my favorite character for some trait other than the ability to give comic relief.

  • WitUnderPressure

Kinda reminds me of that one scene in Shawshank Redemption…

  • non_canon

Something I just realized. The last time Wrath was desummoned it was Mal channeling Wolfe’s calm while Ben did the technical part of the desummon, while this time it’s Mal working with a circle while Ben is the one powering the loudspeaker that carries Wolfe’s calming music to the masses.

  • Nonesuch

Wrath: “That music… That SOUL! I KNOW THAT SOUUUUULLLL~!!!!!”

  • Talewinds

Saw a video on Facebook, can’t find it again, of a WW2 veteran telling the story of when he stopped a German sniper by playing a German popular on his flute…… the German broke down and surrendered. Music reminds us that we are human. It was from a site that animates real life stories. Wish I could find it again.
