Getting real for a sec.

Hey, an anthology I’m part of is being Kickstarted right now! It’s another fairy tales book, this time African instead of Europeon tales, and it’s got some amazing names attached, go have a look!

Support the comic, buy some neat swag!

  • Woo, guessed it! Maybe this makes up for totally missing the lamplight connection ^_^;;;

    • FlashXX

Ha ha! And what a lovely, light- wait… WHAT?! *whips around at sudden realization*

  • Hexadeximal

    Somehow I knew. XD

    • Hexadeximal

Also, for some reason I give him Fenris’s voice from DA2. Does anyone else hear that? xD

      • lara

I didn’t until I read this, but now I can’t stop!!! XD Thank you, nice person.

  • Marvelous TK

He’s gay? With THAT sweater? I mean, you can’t go too far on stereotypes, I know, not all gay guys have good taste, but surely at least his husband did, right? I’ll bet that’s what the fight was about, then.

    • By 2032, white roll neck sweaters and nylon slacks are cutting edge fashion again.

    • There is nothing wrong with the sweater.

  • Amy

  • Geoff

…and she’s the only other person in the hotel from after the McCarthy years. I can see how he’d be a bit surly.

    • Marnath

That’s part of it, but I’m pretty sure he’s like that all of the time, regardless. I’ve known enough sour-pusses like that to say that having a legitimate reason to gripe just encourages them.

      • Geoff

Time for another round of pistachio chocolate brownies!

    • Though considering women can run for mayor and be on the police force and such in the Victorian Era in this world, I wonder if gay relationships are also historically normal too. I thought at first the next page would either be her being startled or (more likely) him being startled at her -not- being startled, but it’s possible it won’t actually be commented on any more than Nicola wearing slacks and a badge is. Though it -would- explain a lot of his bitterness at the people from the past if it wasn’t always accepted. Guess we’ll see!

      • It’s less of a thing than it would have been in real life, but it’s not accepted yet. Nicola is still seen as a bit of an odd case, too.

        • Oh, duly noted then! : ) Can’t wait to see what happens next!

        • Michael Brewer

          In more ways than one!

        • tinwatchman

But no pitchforks, at least. A slightly brighter timeline, it sounds like.

    • Sanjay Merchant

But, from Ethan’s perspective, McCarthyism happened 80 years ago in another country, right? (Not that there haven’t been bouts of hysteria and paranoia in various times and places, but how McCarthyism, specifically, impacts Ethan’s personality, I don’t see.)

      • Geoff

You’re right; I meant to say that the time periods the other people in the hotel are from weren’t exactly friendly to the topic. In retrospect, that might have had something to do with the “Another bloody Luddite” crack.
(Next week we learn that Sam is from a 23rd century neo-traditionalist free love commune and totally would have hugged it out with him over some partybrot.)

        • Sanjay Merchant

Meanwhile, we learn that Rosie is from Wisconsin and voted for McCarthy. :-P

        • Michael Brewer

  • Sanjay Merchant

Ethan, don’t have things in common with me. I don’t like having things in common with jerks who don’t know what “luddite” means.

  • Whelp, so much for the Standard Hollywood Relationship Arc.

    For now, at least.

  • Jourell

…. Ok looks like I was wrong about those two falling for each other. Seen too many animes i guess.

  • Nick Godby

    no wonder hes so bitchy..;)

  • … Wait. Who gets to be “always right” in a same-sex marriage… or is it divided evenly between the two?

  • This guy

I guess she just isn’t lesbian enough for 2013.
