    His heart…of magic ?

    • Sanjay Merchant

“The magic was in your heart this whole time!”

“Yes, I know. That’s why I’ve been trying to get it back.”

    • Well, the necklace is called The Liar’s Heart, isn’t it?

  • He absolutely knows precisely where to stick the pins for maximum result with minimum effort, doesn’t he?

    • AN example: He only mentions what a pity it would be for Superbia to go to the guillotine. I do not think the implication is lost on Invidia.

      • AJ

She’d read into that even if he didn’t make it obvious. It’s her superpower. (It’s a terrible superpower.)

  • Odo

    I see a hat…

  • John

Just wondering how Izzy is going to know where to find them…

    • Shee Soon Theng

I would guess that it has something to do with the Anchor, or maybe the spot where he was given form by the witch. In any case, Izzy is more than likely to know, if those details are significant facts her ancestor passed along.

    • Saibot

Or, she could just be lurking in the shadows.

  • Columbine

Wow it has been weeks since I looked at this comic what is wrong with me?! And so much has happened in the last few pages. Very quick thinking on Henry’s part. Lust is fantastic. Envy and Pride, esspecially in the last page with Pride quietly gentling Envy, very neatly handled. I can’t wait to see where this is going.

    • While I agree that lust is fantastic, I don’t really see how that’s rel—oh, you mean the character

      • Columbine

XP Whelp thanks for starting my morning with a grin

  • MoeLane

With a last name like that? …Yeah, she totally would be next in line.

  • Firedog

At least they got the atmosphere of a family trip right…

  • Jordan Hiller

Well that’s not ominous at all…

  • Sanjay Merchant

I wonder who Ira wanted revenge, or who the rest of these people were before they met Mr. Sexypants I mean, Luxuria.

  • Ms Invidia is really cute when she’s angry.

Don’t tell her I said that.

    • rainycity1

Pat her on the head.. I bet she bites!

  • Jota

Are Superbia and Invidia a couple? Is that why they’re always sitting together, and why Superbia had her arm around Invidia yesterday, and why Lust has decided that *Superbia’s* decapitation would be the more effective threat here??

    needs moar Butler.

although this critique applies to all past and future comments tbh imo fam

I’m not very familiar with French history. I recognize the Valois name, but was there an actual Elodie Valois who was either executed or mysteriously vanished in our history?

    • WaytoomanyUIDs

The Valois were the royal house of France before the Bourbons. Things could have happened differently in this world. They could have remained the royal house, or the County of Valois might not have become part of the demesne of the Dukes of Orleans.

And of course there were various minor cadet and illegitimate branches, including the one involved in the Affair of the Diamond Necklace

Interestingly, the Last Valois king, Henry III was also King of Poland.

      • Anne

Since I have more of a literary than historical bent, I thought you meant the Affair of the Diamond Studs from The Three Musketeers and was confused before following the link. Lust was involved in that one, to be sure.

  • Skralin

This cannot possibly end well for the six.

  • Wyvern

Hmm… The main character of Long Live the Queen is Princess Elodie. The main character of The Royal Trap is Madeleine Valois. Either this is quite the coincidence, or the author is a fan of Hanako Games.

    • Haha, it’s actually a coincidence :) I did borrow her first name from a game, but it was the French faction leader from Civ: Beyond Earth (dreadful game, don’t play it).
I did play and very much enjoy Long Live The Queen though, but I wish my killer swordsprincess wouldn’t have shoved those obviously poisoned chocolates into her face.

      • Sanjay Merchant

For me the facepalmiest moment is when she invariably turns down getting in the ground floor of the freaking printing press (I pretty much never have enough ranks in Economics that early in the game to get the option to decide for myself.)

        • And hospitals! “Wouldn’t putting all the sick people together make them sicker?”

          • Wyvern

To be fair, that was a real problem in the early days of hospitals, before doctors learned the importance of washing their hands! And it’s still a concern even today, especially with the spread of antibiotic-resistant bacteria.

  • mronion

Anyone else think Lust is being literal rather than metaphorical in the last panel? Or is it just me?

    • Sanjay Merchant

You might get a shorter list by asking “anyone NOT think the above is the case?” :-P

  • Has anyone yet wondered if the shadowy figure in the last panel is important?

If not, i’ll be glad to.
