  • Good to see that fishermen have a keen sense of self-preservation… and that she is not stupid enough to dizz the suggestions of the experienced sailor and be smashed on the rocks in the darkness!

    • Sanjay Merchant

I bet Princess Azula could’ve gotten them to land the ship in the dark.

      • Unhooked

To be fair, they did have a metal ship as opposed to this little wooden thing.

But terrifying as Azula was, she probably could have convinced her crew to pilot the ship directly into the rocks and gotten away with it.

  • Darkoneko Hellsing

Oh Acedia, you’re my kind of person. For varying definitions of “person”.

  • MoeLane

…I do hope that they turn the lighthouse back *on* before they leave.

  • Darth Fez

    “Clunk”?
Oh, dear. Did Henry use his head?

  • Columbine

Love the panel lay out here, the long thin shot in the first one just really works.

Is Ms Ira reminding anyone else of Cruella de’Vil?

    • Jordan Hiller

YES!!! She’s like a really irate (well, more irate) Cruella!

      • Tsapki

Damnit, now I can’t hear her without the voice.

    • Chris the Blue

Design-wise, she kinda reminds me of one of the ladies from ‘Mamma Mia’. The tall one who wasn’t played by Meryl Streep.

  • John

Turning off the light in the lighthouse is actually much smarter than I was expecting given Henry’s comment on he last page…

    • svartalf

Stupid. Dangerous stupid. But brilliant beyond words for the circumstances.

  • Euodiachloris

Well, now. Just how many knives does she have in various places about her person? (I’m assuming that flip-knife was one of her sleeves’ specials.)

    • Unhooked

A lady must always be prepared.

    • dana

She doesn’t really need a knife, she has tall, wide and ugly.

      • Euodiachloris

Yes, but a girl has needs and bouncers aren’t slashy. ;P

        • Indeed. A girl needs a knife (as The Flash Girls – SF author Emma Bull and Neil Gaiman’s personal assistant Lauraine Garland – are happy to explain…)

          • Nimm

That is a wonderful song, thanks for sharing :)

  • Oh I’m sure they’ll be getting to the North end of the island very quickly. Unfortunate that the price of that speed will be a large amount of spray coming on board and ruining that fancy expensive red dress.

  • 1792. Hm. Wasn’t that the year a ship load of orphans was drowned off the coast of Cornwall when it ran onto the rocks of an island because one of the lighthouses had failed?

  • Geoff

If Ms. Ira knew how much I love every eye-twitching line of hers, she’d probably shank me.
    “Sea bed”, heh :-3

  • EveryZig

I know she is kind of a member of an evil conspiracy, but I find myself liking Acedia more each page she shows up in.

  • awhorl

if they don’t land right next to the sailfin, it doesn’t get smashed or co-opted immediately. That’s good. Immediately, anyway . . .

  • J_JamesM

Oh, Ms. Ira. One of these days, things will go right for you, and who will you be angry at then?
